U 16 Boys Blizzard Falcons Travel to Quebec City 2004 Outdoor
(Posted: September 21, 2004 11:42 PM)

Les Falcons au Quebec

The exchange began in July with the arrival of the Kodiaks.  The Falcons tested the mettle of Quebec players on their first day in the west with a hike up Heart Mountain.  The week's activities included Stampeders and Mustangs games, a visit to Banff, a pancake breakfast followed by a small-town Alberta rodeo, an exhibition game that was so much fun it lasted for more than two hours and a training session with Tommy Wheeldon, John Castrillon and Alan Rickwood.

In August, the Falcons left for what was to prove a memorable week in Quebec City--whale-watching in the Saguenay, a rope adventure course at a local ski hill, tours of Old Quebec and the Plains of Abraham, a trip to Trois Rivieres to cheer on the Kodiaks as they vied for a playoff spot, more exhibition games, and a day at the biggest water park in eastern Canada.

Thanks to the positive attitude of the players, the generosity of the coaches and parents of both teams, the support of the Blizzard and Kodiak organizations and the CSFEP, the Falcons have memories to last a lifetime, a glimpse of the doors that sport can open, an understanding of Quebec culture-- and  even a few more words of French.

For more information on this wonderful exchange program contact Alan Rickwood.  What a terrific experience for any team!!
