U18 Blizzard Lightning wins Gold at Provincials

The U18 Div. 2 Blizzard Lightning girls won Gold at the Indoor Tier 3 Provincial finals during the March 12/13 weekend in Calgary.  Victories over the Red Deer - Lacombe Rams (5-0, mercy ruled) and Edmonton's SW Sting (3-1) put them in the Gold/Silver final round.  An exciting finish during the game against the Calgary Celtic Force (2-1) resulted in them clinching the top spot. 

Congratulations to the team and to coach Dave Baxter, and a very special thank-you to June Montgomery and Mary Brophy for stepping up and helping manage the team throughout the regular season. 

This is no doubt a wonderful stepping stone for the team in their plans to compete in the St. Andrews Football tournament this summer in Scotland.

Well done Dave and well done Girls!  By the way Dave, nice (rare) smile!
