After a shut-out over the Edmonton SW Sting (6-0), followed by victories over the Grande Prairie Power (7-1), and Airdrie Aztecs (7-2) the team qualified for the Gold/Silver final match against the first-placed Calgary Blizzard Tornadoes team. This led to the Flores Mortales team’s first defeat (5-2) since October, 2004.Congratulations to the team and to coaches Gabriel Armutlu, Robert Lambalgen, and Garry Perry for an exciting, excellent finish to the team’s first season together. This is a wonderful “first step” for the team which, while moving up to U-18 for the 2005 Outdoor season, works towards its goal of representing Calgary and Canada at an Academy in the Netherlands and then playing some games in Southern Europe in July 2006.
There are some openings for additional players for this team for the Outdoor 2005 Season. Please contact Alan Rickwood if you are interested in joining this great team (before try-outs are completed!).
For additional information, please see the Blizzard website (“Positions available on Europe Bound Blizzard Girls Team”, posted March 7th).
