Blizzard Wildthings Take Home the Gold- August 19, 2007
The Blizzard Wildthings Competitive A soccer team travelled to Penticton to take part in the Peach Tournament that is held annually. 100 teams entered this tournament ranging from all over Western Canada. The Wildthings were positioned in a challenging group filled with second year U-12 teams but showed their abilities clear enough on the pitch. With a record of 16 goals for and 3 against, the Wildthings went on to win the gold medal in the 2nd overtime half of the game with 2-minutes remaining in the half. A truly exciting game to watch as a spectator and exhausting as a coach!
As a coach, I am very proud of the respect and manner in which these girls represented themselves, their families, their team, and the Blizzards Organization. Before each game, the opposing team was presented with a plaque that said In the spirit of fair play with complements from the Blizzard Wildthings. The opposing coaches were impressed not only of their skills and playing but their maturity and respect for the game. On the field, off the field I was very proud of these girls.
