CALGARY BLIZZARD RECEIVES CANADA SOCCER NATIONAL YOUTH CLUB LICENSE
Calgary’s oldest youth soccer club has been recognized as one of the leading clubs in the City
August 2, 2019 (Calgary, AB) – Calgary Blizzard Soccer Club is thrilled to announce that we have been granted a Canada Soccer National Youth Club License. This is the highest amateur youth club designation in the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program, recognizing the highest achieving organizations from across Canada.
Blizzard is proud to have achieved this licensing standard and attribute our success to the hard work anddedication of our team, led by Brendan O’Connell, Sporting Director and Alan Rickwood, former General Manager,whohaveworkedtirelesslyonourlicenseapplicationoverthelastyear. Beingoneoftheselect few clubs in the city who have received this license speaks highly to our core vision, values and purpose.
Brendan O’Connell, Sporting Director stated, “The introduction of a national club licensing standards is amilestone within the Canada Soccer program and an initiative we fully support. We are very pleased to receive our approval and will continue to work closely with Canada Soccer to uphold and meet the highest standards as outlined within the program. Our primary goal is to provide our Blizzard members with an exceptional soccer experience to ensure our players develop a life-long love of the game.”
National Youth Club License holders display characteristics and demonstrate behaviors aligned with the highest expectations of governance, administration, infrastructure, and technical; support their Provincial and Territorial Member Association and Canada Soccer Pathways; and must participate in standards- based leagues in their Province or Territory by 2020.
