Calgary Blizzard in League1 Alberta

2023 – Women

In 2023, Calgary Blizzard WSC joined League1 Alberta in its inaugural exhibition season and wrote their names into the history books as the league’s first Women’s Champions. After a 5-1-3 regular season, Blizzard finished second behind the 7-0-2 St. Albert Impact.

The two sides met in a winner-takes-all final, where Blizzard and Impact were tied 1–1 at the end of regulation. Alyssa D’Agnone, Rachel Barlow, Abbey Wright, Madeline Murray, and goalkeeper Lauren Houghton converted to secure the victory and crown Calgary Blizzard WSC as the first League1 Alberta Women’s Champions after an unforgettable season led by Head Coach Diogo Raposo.

2024 – Women

Blizzard WSC returned to League1 Alberta in 2024 for the league’s first official season and continued where they left off. The team finished first in the standings and captured the 2024 League1 Alberta Women’s Championship, securing back-to-back titles.

Across the season, Blizzard relied on contributions throughout the squad, with Aislin Phillips and Alyssa D’Agnone leading the team offensively with four goals each. The championship result earned Blizzard the opportunity to represent Alberta at the League1 Canada Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship, marking the club’s first appearance at the national League1 level.

2024 – Men

The 2024 season marked Calgary Blizzard’s debut on the men’s side of League1 Alberta. Led by Head Coach Ramon Mifflin, Blizzard completed a strong inaugural campaign, finishing third in the league standings.

The men’s side showed attacking quality throughout the season, led by Miguel De Rocha, who finished with six goals, and Josh Flaksman, who added five goals. A late-season match saw De Rocha score a hat trick and Flaksman add a brace, highlighting the progress of the program in its first year.

2025 – Women

In 2025, Calgary Blizzard WSC continued their run at the top of League1 Alberta, once again finishing first and claiming the 2025 League1 Alberta Women’s Championship thanks to coaching from Head Coaches Cedric Bovon & Diogo Raposo.

The title was secured with a 2–1 victory over Calgary Villains FC, with Bryn Mortensen scoring both goals in the decisive match. Across the season, Mortensen led the league in scoring, finishing as the League1 Alberta Women’s Top Goal Scorer, as Blizzard maintained their consistency throughout league play.

2025 – Men

Calgary Blizzard’s men’s program reached a major milestone in 2025, capturing the League1 Alberta Men’s Championship in just its second season.

The championship run was driven by a strong attacking group, led by Marco Plenzik, who finished the season with 10 goals, and Moe El Gandour, who added seven goals. Blizzard finished top of the standings, securing the club’s first men’s League1 Alberta title in their inaugural season under Head Coach Ramon Mifflin.
